We have been using marcain (bupivicaine) for dentals in cats and dogs and for peri-operative pain relief for surgical wounds in rabbits and small furries. I've just been told that marcain is unavailable due to

Re: Local anaesthetics

Oh that sucks! We havent ordered any recently so will try to get a bulk order in!

I use a fair amount of intra-epicaine (Mepivacaine) for its fast onset and longer duration than lidocaine, supposedly 2-4 hours duration if I remember correctly.

For dentals, I use combo intra-epicaine and marcaine at 1mg/kg, seems to give a fast onset, with prolonged duration of block.

Intraepicaine is licensed for horses.

Best

We routinely use 0,5% bupivacaine and 2% lidocaine (with or without epinephrine, it depends of the time). Here in Spain we can find it easy.
