Spayed female bitch SBT presented with persistent vulval haemorrhage and excessive vulval licking originally thought to be hameturia but didn't clear with abx so sedated and examined/xrayed (nervous dog). Found bilat testicular sacs either

Re: vestigial penis / vulval haemorrhage

[quote user="Utlendigur"]

Ditto. When spayed (plus os penis excised) she had completely normal-looking ovaries and uterus. Many years ago I had a labrador cross that seemed to be unilateral cryptorchid - one normal scrotal testicle, but ex lap to hunt for the other produced an ovary and the cranial part of something that looked like a vestigial uterine horn.

Re: vestigial penis / vulval haemorrhage

I was seeing a young staffie bitch with - surprise - sarcoptic mange, with a strange penis-like protruberance poking out of her vulva by about 1cm. Felt like an os penis within. Some sort of orifice on the dorsal edge - not sure if the actual urethra? She was leaving it alone and all OK other than the skin but the owners were upset about it, so the plan was to get skin settled,GA to investigate the odd genitalia further - I was hoping to pass a catheter and see where it went, ex-lap/spay if indeed a uterus and ovaries present, and if reasonably straighforward, remove the protruding 'bits'. However the owners balked at the (very reasonable) cost and we received a request for records from a neighbouring practice, so that's that I suppose.

Would love to see some photos of your case, it does sound similar, although ours was not causing any signs.

Re: vestigial penis / vulval haemorrhage

Not seen anything similar, but I'd love to see some pictures if you can.

Re: vestigial penis / vulval haemorrhage

Not seen anything like that but would be interested to know who spayed her and what the uterus looked like.
