I'm currently doing a locum in a practice near London, and I'm seriously impressed with the approach to consulting room design and routine. It's a generously proportioned room, lots of space. And it's got an open kitchen

Re: consulting room behaviour

love a picture?
Resulting in Not-So-Relaxed cat in consult room! Fab pic btw

Cats DO like sinks - maybe a consult table cunningly disguised as a sink could work wonders for relaxed patients?

Re: consulting room behaviour

Relaxed cat in consult room ! so tempting to turn tap on !

£37 something, which struck me as high. But then, this is outskirts of London, and I usually work in Scotland!

Re: consulting room behaviour
Of course, the 15 minute appointment slots don't do any harm either!
That is just as important as the vet is not hurrying to get through history taking, physical examination, discussion on investigations/treatments, doing the investigations/treatments etc in the average 10minute consultation. However, we would need to charge 50% more for the consultation as it has taken 50% more time. You may gain a little by encouraging clients to spend more on tests etc but the bottom line is the consultation charge would immediately jump up. Bare that in mind!

Just being nosey, how much does the first consultation cost?
