So, anyway. I put the pig on bute, and made the owner sign a declaration acknowledging the cascade and his duty not to let it go for human consumption. Metacam was going to be a ridiculous price, particularly if more than a couple of days were needed. Many thanks to all who responded. Sorry if it meant that people drew red stars - not sure what that's about.

The star system is quite good fun but recent events do suggest it is being misused. I will one star myself in anticipation and would request others one star as well. This will totally negate the sad person doing the one starring! Can we see how many one stars I can get?

It's very strange, this one-starring of posts that clearly deserve more than one star. I sort of wonder whether someone is doing it as a variation on trolling, though for what purpose I can't quite figure out.

Can I ask everyone to be on the lookout for one star posts, and if you disagree with the one star, award more immediately! That will immediately negate the efforts of whichever saddo is dishing out one star ratings.

When used correctly, I think they can help draw the eye to posts that are notably good, or notably bad, and to that extent are pretty helpful.

That said, I would rather remove the star system than have someone award red stars to members who give a great deal of their time to helping others in the forum and post such good quality stuff (such as Mark).

I just give up on the ratings and pretend they aren't there. Think you get more from reading a constructive agreement/argument than from any number of stars... Can we ditch it altogether?

I have used: Asprin 2-6g /pig depending on size bid and Rimadyl at the dog dose (they love the chewable tablets).

What size pig are we talking about?

If you think that aspirin would be adequate pain relief it is licensed orally for pigs:

I have no idea how cost effective this works out as I suspect it's meant for treating large batches.
