Interesting update Andrew. The reason I use the local pharmacy is that NVS wouldn't/couldn't order Eprex or Neo Recormen. Just checked on NVS now and Eprex is now on there in 1000 & 2000iu sizes. It is however still cheaper for me to get it locally.

Re: EPO

Thanks very much guys . I certainly did mean erythropoietin . Was looking through NVS and could not see any under trade names I know . Thanks all for the wisdom . IT is indeed for a cat with CKD .

Re: EPO

I use Neo Recormen which we order like anything else through dunlops.

This changed for me recently and I now just phone my local pharmacy and order it, they get it for the next day. An independent is best as Boots seem to take an eternity as they have to pass it by head office. I use Eprex (Janssen) tel 01494567400 but Neo Recome (Roche) tel 08007315711, is also available. Comes in 1000iu up to 10,000iu vials. I use it a lot in old cats with anaemia of CKD and it works well in most cases, sometimes along with iron, dose is 300iu/cat on 3 occasions within a week. I find the 2000iu most useful to keep in stock and will transfer the contents into a 1ml syringe which I cap with a cap from a Fevaxyn vaccine syringe (worth saving them for this purpose) as the Eprex comes in spring loaded single use syringes which are difficult to measure doses accurately. Hope that helps.
