You definitely don't need to do it each time. They're happy to hold a SIC for the same drug. I remember speaking to someone at VMD about it as we had a client wanted to get them himself from France.

No that's not true either. You have to get the SIC for each order. You don't have to name the patient on the form. We ordered our first lot for 'stock' and then re-order as they are used using the animal we have just prescribed for as the new prescription.

thanks everyone Dunlops did not make it clear they were on the shelf we thought they had to be imported for each order.

You still need to get your SIC. See Vet Med Guidance note 5:

Wholesale Dealer’s Import Certificate (WDIC)

28. A WDIC will allow the importer to hold and supply a product to the holder of a valid SIC or STC as appropriate. The WDIC holder should be in possession of a copy of the SIC/STC before supplying the named veterinary surgeon with any product.

Eurovet are importing VitK1 tabs from Europe. When I last checked Dunlops had them on the shelf as a stock item. You need a SIC from the VMD which you can get online on their website.

Tanya - I don't mean to be rude, but where is the difficulty? It's 1 tablet/10kg and I wouldn't worry if your JRT is less. You complete the form online, print it and fax it to Dunlops, the tablets come with your order next working day! The VMD form takes less than 5 minutes to complete, print and fax. We just load the margin a little for the hassle. If you have no tablets inject over the weekend and order them for Monday.

We see these commonly and keep a rolling stock. Just ~half a dozen boxes of the 1ml vials left to use then onto 5ml. Oh for small mercies.

If you have a VETSNOW anywhere near you they should be able to help you because they stock antidotes.
