Could cause burns/ulcers at the mouth site and have more systemic effects potentially? Might also explain the symmetry you mention.

Re: 8 wk old Alaskan Malamute X Help!

Could it be traumatic? we had a dog with a terribly sore and sloughing mouth after it licked up laundry liquid of some kind.Or chewing something that was too sharp/hard? If the PU/PD arrived at the same time it could be due to pain.

Re: 8 wk old Alaskan Malamute X Help!

Could puppy have licked or eaten anything corrosive or irritant? At 8 weeks they can be in to everything.

When you say 'awaiting urine sample' do you mean you are waiting for the dog to pee or awaiting results? If you are thinking kidneys it's male so pass a catheter and do a dipstick and USG.

Unless the owner wants absolutely everything done then I'd just see what happened over the next few days with some antibiotic/NSAID cover.
