Not an issue in a farm animal, but a bit of a deal-breaker in a pet. Unless there is just a thin membrane there I think euth has to be the best option in cats and dogs.

Re: Atresia ani in a kitten. I have operated successfully on lambs over a week old. The surgery is not exactly challenging but the further in you have to go to find rectum the poorer the prognosis, in my experience.

In the last week I have done 3 lambs and a calf. The calf died but that was a long way in (length of my index finger). Last I heard the lambs all doing well.

Never seen it in a dog or cat.

Re: Atresia ani in a kitten.
