I hope you are all having a lovely Easter!
Today has been eventful so far with a tremorgenic mycotoxin dog, an acute pancreatitis, and now a chicken with a head tilt!
The chicken has some weight loss, but a full crop, tends to sit down more

Re: Chicken with a head tilt - please help!
I've now just been called out to see a bunny now - maybe there will be Easter eggs for me after all!

Thanks, will see how it goes now on baytril and metacam.
Still not convinced I ever cured anything in a chicken with Baytril. Try Tylan and you'll never go back.

Re: Chicken with a head tilt - please help!

Thanks, will see how it goes now on baytril and metacam.

Re: Chicken with a head tilt - please help!

Hi
I would be looking at bacterial/mycoplasmal encephalitis (pasteurella) but would keep viral disease in the back of my mind( paramyxovirus,Mareks).
Supportive care and antibiotics/NSAIDs for now and diagnostics if finances allow ( bloods to start).
Don't forget to withdraw eggs form human consumption.

No worries about the questions!

No diarrhoea, occassional sneezing (not in consultation though), no periocular swelling. Chicken is 4 years old, not sure of breed, but not ex battery, has been laying. Only one of two birds, no new birds introduced. Other bird is healthy. She is eating.

HTH.

Re: Chicken with a head tilt - please help!

Hello

Any diarrhoea? Sneezing/periocular swellings? Age of bird? Vaccination History? Ex batt vs pedigree? Laying History? New birds introduced? Any other birds displaying any other signs?

Sorry for all the questions but a bit more info would sure help.

Neuro signs may be a sign of viral disease or bacterial/mycoplasmal encephalitis.

I would be on with supportive care while you get us a bit more signalment (meloxicam/antibacterials and feeding/fluids if anorexic).
