Exotic specialists seem to be hard to get hold of today! I've left a message for the good Mark Rowland to call me back tomorrow and I thought, in the meanwhile, I'd post the clinical findings here. 1)it's on the App for the iPad/iPhone below
2) I sell the tubes (3 sizes) plus an instructional DVD on the cpd website below.

The tubes really are worth it and once mastered , gavage tubing is a great way to get supportive care into birds and tortoises

Hope this helps.

Re: chicken 'not quite right'

Bloody predictive text. :-)

Re: chicken 'not quite right'

[quote user="Mark Rowland"]If you haven't done much garage tubing... The globulins suggest a chronic inflammatory change with the leukopenia either being caused by the immune system being suppressed (e.g. Viral infection) or sequestration of the white cells at a focus of infection.
Electrophoresis will quantify this further but I would be hospitalising for supportive care including antibiotics and NSAIDS and getting some X-rays and further diagnostics if the X-rays indicate.
Ultrasonography would help identify any fluid in the coelom and enable visualisation and the liver. I would want to identify any fluid before I reached for the endoscope.
Because she is female you can't rule out reproductive problems but I would hospitalise, faecal wet prep (important easy step), supportive care and rad/us as a start while waiting for the protein electrophoresis. And give a cautious prognosis.

Good luck, call me tomorrow ;-)

If you haven't done much garage tubing there's a good App out which will show you how, can't remember it's name though!!!!!!!!!!!!
