Is it a factor to take into consideration or not...
- vaccinate as normal?
- lepto only and maybe do titres on DHP ?

Not at all ! There were still concerns about it when Princess Diana was having her kids vaccinated - and that's hardly any time ago!

The concerns about a link between Bordatella pertussis (Whooping cough) vaccination and epilepsy go back to the 70's, largely as a result of media scares, but have since been shown to be groundless. Siezures are no longer a contra-indication for pertussis vaccination in humans.

http://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/article.aspx?articleid=141464

Sadly this does not seem to be the case.

There are pages and pages on the internet warning that rabies jabs will make your dog epileptic. As far as I can tell this relates to a few cases of encephalitis in humans following rabies vaccinations.

We vaccinate epileptic dogs with the same protocol as non-epileptics.

Re: Vaccination and epilepsy

I would recommend vaccination as per protocol supplied by our current vaccine company. i don't appreciate any connection with epilepsy and vaccinations, though I have known some animals that will seizure as a result of the excitement and stress of coming to the surgery.

Re: Vaccination and epilepsy
Is it a factor to take into consideration or not...
I generally just vaccinate, and can't say I've ever really seen any issues.

On the other hand, it's not that surprising it's not better if you're giving it lead........
