Looks like plugs of coagulated fluid from the prostatic/bulbourethral glands. The gloop is used to block the female's vagina post mating but if males don't mate it can accumulate and set. Quite satisfying to remove, but not as much fun as the similar stuff in bearded dragons :)

I've seen something that looks like those before....

It's a statue by Magnus Tomasson outside the airport terminal in Keflavik, Iceland supposedly representing a steel egg with a plane wing emerging from it. Anyone fancy telling him it looks like something squished out of a guinea pig's penis

Something similar seems to be relatively common in geckos - they get a plug of waxy material in one or both hemipenes. Size wise they can be equally impressive. I have also recently treated a pygmy hedgehog with similar lesions growing from areas of infection on multiple legs - the largest was 3cm in length and 1cm diameter. Quite satisfying to remove.

By coincidence, I expressed something similar from a cavy on Monday. Not as "cartilaginous", more squidgy.

He was not detectably dysuric, but he was a bit off colour.

My receptionist is a guinea pig breeder, has about 70 gpigs at the moment, was up to 150. Her immediate response was that it was dried semen, apparently sets like concrete, she's not pulled it out a penis but found dried plugs similar to that bunging up girls post-mating or sets like concrete in fur in a bunch of young males get a little "over-excited"

I agree - they do get large chunks of inspissated gunk around the prepuce on occasions - bit like geldings. My wife spends many happy hours excavating her cob's sheath.

You know how unreliable anecdotal reports like that are - you'd need to conduct a few doubles blind-drunk placebo controlled trials first!

Nope, you want the *other* Mark. :p My thought would be a prostatitis; a whacking great prostate can certainly constipate;and you can have a purulent discharge in urogenital infections. If there's an inflammatory process, that would certainly explain the positive effect of the meloxicam, and the cartilaginous feel might just be dried pus and tissue.

Total hypothesis - over to the G Pig experts! :)

Familial Sharpei Fever - which every hindlimb lameness in a Sharpei has been postulated by me to be (but none ever actually seem to be). The Dachsy thing, I don't really think it's true, no - but a breeder did once instruct me of its truth.
