Does anyone know of such a drug and its dose? I'm asking on behalf of a colleague- something to do with soft shells and risk of egg peritonitis.
Thank you.

Re: injection to stop chickens laying

They are placed subcutaneously in the interscapular region on the back. Chickens generally are easy to do conscious and I place a tiny bit of tissue skin on the entry hole. The skin is very thin and you can visualise the implants sitting there after placement.

If it were mine and the eggs were persistantly soft, I'd call it a day- I like a healthy flock and wouldn't want to risk it being a carrier of something that may affect the rest of the birds.

Re: injection to stop chickens laying

[quote user="Malcolm Ness"]

If your colleague wants some advice on the off-licence use of Suprelorin in chickens they are welcome to speak to one of the Virbac technical team by calling 01359 243 243 and selecting option one.

With any mammalian endocrine product I make chicken owners sign a form declaring they will never use the animal for egg/meat.
