It is otherwise fine, eating well, management appears to be appropriate. Any suggestions from the more exotically minded among you would be gratefully received...

Re: Bearded dragon eye
So the enophthalmus is likely to be effect rather than cause?

Yes, lizards have a good ability to withdraw the globe in reponse to any discomfort. If the globe appears intact then it is likely a pain response.
Hello Swab for culture if finances allow. Otherwise cipro drops and metacam 0.3mg/kg Sid and remove the sand it's likely a bacterial conjunctivitis but could be fungal what's the uv status? Goodluck
We don't stock cipro drops, would exocin be inappropriate? If you remove the sand, what would you use instead (my nurse (who keeps beardies herself) has suggested putting beach chips on top of the sand)? I will suggest swabbing (presumably just use standard bacteriology swab?

Please excuse my ignorance, reptiles are not really my thing!

PS Just looked up the metacam dose on your website - thank you!

Exocin should be fine, Meloxicam is for the discomfort which is likley causing the enopthalmos. Keep a close watch on the eyelid skin to ensure there isnt any dermatitis developing (which again could be bacterial or fungal).

I would use newspaper for a week or so until there is a clinical improvement.

Glad you found the website helpful... theres more to come soon

Re: Bearded dragon eye
The enophthalmos suggests discomfort and either metacam or tramadol provide effective pain relief in beardies.
Photokeratitis is another differential with some brands/positions of UVB (or UVC!) lighting. The enophthalmos suggests discomfort and either metacam or tramadol provide effective pain relief in beardies.
