That sounds interesting. I've just been discussing surgery with the owner of a Spinone with recurrent lip fold pyoderma, but perhaps it's worth trying this first. How often do you apply it?

I've used it successfully for skin fold pyoderma in 3 Cocker Spaniels too, with a similar application rate. Has avoided surgery in all cases.
Yep, the rep mentioned this fact. I'm afraid I replied, 'Oh, I really like sudocrem on those.....'. Fortunately, the rep was another parent of young children, and - off the record - wholeheartedly agreed.

It appears to be nothing more than a chlorhexidine toothpaste which they suggest using without brushing (or am I missing something?).

[/quote]

You are missing something (but not much), the idea is that once it contacts the saliva on the gums it solidifies and stays put for several days thus obviating the need for frequent rinsing with CHX solutions and forms a protective layer in lieu of failure of brushing. For the reasons suggested previously it doesn't work in practice but could be useful as something apply immediately post dental however if the gums are oozing blood still it gets washed off. Of course if we all advocated RMB we wouldn't need products like this!

Re: Dentisept

It appears to be nothing more than a chlorhexidine toothpaste which they suggest using without brushing (or am I missing something?). I believe Logic removed the recommendation to use their gel without brushing some time ago. I guess using anything with chlorhexidine would be better than using nothing, but these products are never a replacement for daily brushing.

Re: Dentisept

It sounded like the holy grail when the rep showed it me but sadly experience has shown that it is pretty hopeless in practice: the animals hate it so they resist and hypersalivate and even if they don't, as soon as it comes into contact with saliva the thing that is supposed to make it special is its downfall, it solidifies before you can get it on the teeth and gums either with your finger or the applicator. An example of a great idea that is flawed in the real world. Maybe if it comes in fish or chicken flavour if may make it easier.
