She has a vaginal discharge, described as pale and gloopy, not smelly and well in herself. She is approx 9months old. Any thoughts? Is this normal, is she starting to cycle? (not on a bike obviously )

Re: Goat vaginal discharge

Yes as a life long goat farmer, this most probably is normal discharge at the end of the oestrus. It can look like pus but isn't. Your friend has probably noticed the goat being noisy and doing a lot of tail "wagging" days before this discharge?

Pseudopregnancy is common in goats (dairy goats) and mostly shows as a big extended seemingly pregnant abdomen, full udder, and sudden discharge of many liters of clear watery fluid. There are lots of publications about it.

A psychiatrist friend of mine had to treat a patient with false preg who was a virgin, thought she was giving birth to the second coming, and almost threw herself from a bridge.

Re: Goat vaginal discharge

[quote user="bob lehner"]

No, I'm pretty sure it occurs in humans.

Sorry Kate, this is getting quite far away from your friend's goat. A quick google (I know, I know) suggests they produce gloopy stuff when in season. Whether the source is reliable or not, I have no idea

Re: Goat vaginal discharge

[quote user="bob lehner"]

They have them on Eastenders and Corrie.
