We would all love to be able to advise beforehand on choice of pet, requirements, sourcing etc, but people just don&amp;#39;t ask before they buy.&lt;/p&gt;

To go on a witch hunt for those people who are in a position to improve welfare of these animals &amp;nbsp;simply because you dont agree with the their stance is like chastising farm vets for fraternising with farmers. No one denies that there are welfare issues to be dealt with. thats why vets are there, for the same reason vets are in slaughterhouses. That last sentence, saying that any vet recommending or endorsing someone buying an animal like a captive bred tortoise is in some way a welfare issue is quite frankly offensive. We are there to advise clients on the welfare of these animals to ensure that they are kept properly, just as we are for dogs and cats. Is a kitten dying of anaemia from flea infestation not also suffering.&lt;/p&gt;
