&lt;p&gt;Once approved within a marketing authorization, the bacteria can not only be used in the manufacture of that product, but also under the cascade legislation it can be used at alternative strengths and for other species.&lt;/p&gt;

There are no probiotics registered for use in rodents and reptiles and in fact only two strains of probiotics are registered for use in dogs and cats (Enterococcus faecium and Lactobacillus acidophilus):&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This product appears to contravene the current EU legislative requirements for probiotic feed additives. The strains in the product would not have been tested for safety and efficacy in all the target species listed, which is a requirement to register a probiotic as a feed additive in the EU.&lt;/p&gt;
