Yes indeed. I'm an Aussie vet who worked in UK 28 years ago. All the clients referred to me as "Doctor" back then. I thought it already was a curtesy title in the UK. When I graduated in 1985 (Sydney University), we had to ask permission from the Vet Surgeons Board to be able to use the title "Dr" but I think it is automatic now upon registration. Other countries have DVM degrees "Doctor of Veterinary Medicine", so automatically are considered doctors. As a Veterinary Science degree is more difficult, involved, & requires learning about multiple species, we are more entitled to the term than regular GPs !!
