What do you think about this vet price comparison website?

Woke this morning to an article in The Times announcing that www.vethelpdirect.com, the site run by Susie Samuel had released data from its price comparison website which revealed huge price variations in the cost of veterinary care, even within the same area.

I suppose my first thought was to wonder why it should be remarkable that different practices charge differing amounts. Then again, the variations were pretty big. I was also surprised that the data was released by a site run by a vet (because I should imagine it's going to annoy some people in the profession).

Out of curiosity, I went to try out the price comparison website and found that both the practices I have used are judged to be very expensive (lots of pound signs).

I can imagine that wont be good for their businesses during a cost of living crisis.

I also think it could be very misleading - because as we've discussed in other threads, the costs of veterinary care are possibly more affected by factors you simply cannot account for in a simple price comparison for two basic procedures.

That can't account for the cost of practising defensive medicine in an increasingly risk-averse world, for example.
