Common endocrine disorders can be some of the most problematic ones to manage and this course will provide lots of practical tips that will help you to manage these tricky cases, with plenty of case examples to illustrate important points. You will also learn about emerging disorders and you’ll finish the day being able to ensure that you aren’t missing some of these diseases. We will discuss the approach to cases presenting with common clinical signs such as weakness, polydipsia and hypertension, in addition to practising decision making with a variety of common challenges that you are likely to face in feline endocrinology.

However, they can also be some of the more challenging and stressful patients to treat. This course will provide practitioners with a rational and logical approach to the assessment of the emergency patient. It will focus on interpretation of physical examination findings and basic clinicopathologic and imaging data with an emphasis on information that will help you formulate a rational stabilisation plan. The course is suitable for both veterinary surgeons in general practice and those with a special interest in (or fear of!) emergency medicine.

This online course consists of a mixture of case presentations and assessment, downloadable reference sources (notes, text book references, abstracts of relevant journal articles), and online discussions.

Do you know whether steroids are indicated in the treatment of liver disease in your small animal patients? Is there really any way that you can reliably diagnose pancreatitis in cats?

Diseases of the liver and pancreas are common in dogs and cats but reaching an accurate diagnosis and deciding on effective management can be challenging. During this course we will address these questions and discuss the major diseases that affect the liver and pancreas in dogs and cats. Using a wide selection of the types of cases that you are likely to encounter in practice, we will develop a structured approach to diagnosis and current treatment recommendations.

The course will aim to explain how to optimise image quality and workflow in computerised radiography.

Computerised radiography has become more and popular over the last few years in both small animal and large animal practice. Computerised systems require different exposure settings, result in different artefacts and require different image interpretation compared to conventional film-screen system. While manufacturers usually provide user training for their specific systems this often concentrates on software handling and the basic principles are often not made clear to the clinician. Knowledge of these is however prerequisite in identifying problems and dealing with them.
